Moveable Feasts

EASTER

Exurgat Deus, et dispentur inimici eius, et fugiant qui oderunt eum a facie eius. ps. 67.
May Jesus Christ raise himself from the tomb, may His enemies be scattered, and may those who despised him scurry at the sight of His face, because they are not conformed to His Will.
Capto illuserunt et peudentem irriserunt; et unde victores tismuverunt, mox victi evanverunt. S. Aug. in ps. 67.
The Jews mocked the Savior when they saw Him arrested, and they humiliated Him when they saw Him nailed to the Cross. That which proudly excited them when they believed themselves to be victors is that which confounds them when they realize that they are conquered.

Example: Voila, my dear lover of God, the joyful victory of the Cross, and of afflictions suffered with resignation to the Holy Will of God. Voila in parallel a proof of the perseverance of Jesus Christ in the conformity of His Will to that of His Father. He ressurects today: and not only His soul which was glorious from the first instant of the Incarnation, as evidenced by the Divine Essence preserved in this beatitude; but His body is adorned with four glorious qualities: splendid clarity, agility, subtlety, and serenity. As Saint Paul writes, after He obediently dies to expiate our sins, He resurrects by that same obedience that we may be justified. That is to say that He makes us just by communicating His righteousness to us. His submission was so great that even as He had fully realized His glory, he was, nonetheless, not in a place of glory. He obediently sojourned on Earth until the prescribed time of His ascension.

Practice: Lover of God, sometimes you may say
I can accept being poor, but the inability to provide for my family or to give to the poor is an impotence which I cannot bear. Sickness would not be too inopportune if only I could fulfill my daily responsibilites. I could disregard being diregarded, but only if it all falls on my shoulders and does not lead to my entire ministry being disregarded.
These are excuses that come from a place of impatience. He who is perfectly resigned voluntarily suffers his afflictions and embraces any circumstance. In this way he is always joyful.
