GOOD FRIDAY

Calicem salutaris accipiam. ps. 115.
I will receive the Cup of Salvation in resignation to the Will of God.
Quid est accipere Calicem Salutaris, nisa passionem Domini imitari? S. Aug. in ps. 102.
What does it mean to receive the Cup of Salvation if not to timitate the Passion of the Lord?

Example: Jesus Christ took a unique pleasure in bearing witness to the World the fervent effort which He underwent to attain our salvation. He experienced extreme pain and repulsion in His human nature only to overcome it all. He makes us see how much He loves us when He allows nothing to stop Him from acheiving our redemption. He desired to be spared no pain. He was abjected, taken for a lunatic, slaps bruised His cheeks, and He was cursed innumerable times. Oh, what a disgrace! His delicate flesh was torn by the whip, He was crowned with thorns, He was made to take up the Cross, and He was crucified. He did not leave one sole drop of blood in his veins. Oh, what pain! Nonetheless, He delighted in this disgrace and pain. He had a holy affinity for them. He raced towards His agony: And when He suffered, He reveled in His victory. He was triumphant in asserting His glory and His joy in perfectly executing the Will of his Heavenly Father.

Practice: Lover of God, is it not an honor for you to follow your sovereign master? Isn't it fitting that you would consider yourself joyful to endure a bit of discomfort out of love for He who shed all of his blood for your salvation? The dilection and the torments that He suffered did Him no good: It was all for your gain. The benefit of your suffering is for you, not for Him. So courageously say the following whenever a Cross comes to you:
Divine cup, I embrace you
because you are given to me by the loving hand of my God
who loves it in all its bitterness
which makes me joyful.
