HOLY THURSDAYAruit cor meum, quia oblitus sum comedere panem meum. ps. 101 Example: The greatest misfortune that we are subjected to in this world is due to our neglect of the free grace which Jesus Christ offers us in the Eucharist. This is either by not receiving it at all or in receiving it unworhtily. For the ideal disposition to receive worthily is to put ourselves in a state which conforms to the Will of God: not just to purge ourselves of iniquity through penitence, but to go further by performing virtuous acts in resignation to the Holy Will of God. It seems, lover of God, that the Savior teaches us to do this by His example on this day. While He prepared the Most Blessed Sacrament which He instituted; as He received it Himself and administered it to His apostles; He prepared His entire Self to be relinquished to the Will of His Father before entering into the combat of His Passion.
Practice: One of the most common reasons why some people rarely receive communion is that they are ashamed of their
personal lives, or furthermore they are anxious that receiving the sacrament will increase their afflictions. Alas, they are sorely mistaken!
This reasoning will be their undoing: When you are ill, you must have recourse to the doctor. When you are afflicted,
who is better suited to deliver you than the one true comfort? It may be good to recite this prayer when receiving the Eucharist:
