March 25: The AnnunciationEcce ancilla domini, fiat mihi, secundum verbum tuu. Luc. I. Example: It is now that we realze with greater lucidity the advantages of conformity to God's Holy Will which works two powerful miracles in the Sacred Virgin: one of holiness and one of power. The miracle of holiness consists of rendering Mary so humble that upon hearing her extolment pronounced from the mouth of an angel, she blushes and dismisses them. Her modesty admires the honor that was given to her when the angel spoke of becoming the Mother of God, so she judged herself unworthy. Her modesty which blinds her to her own merits shields her from suffering when she is praised. The love of purity is no less considerable: She would rather not be the Mother of God if that means that she must denounce her virginity. Therefore, in avoiding vainglory she maintains perfect chastity. Therefore, she submits herself entirely to the Will of God: submission whichafter having rendered her so humble and pure, made her yet all-powerful in a way. Speaking this word (Fiat) she did in the fullness of time what God had done at the beginning of the World. She repaired the world in the same manner as God had created it. Practice: Lover of God, you will never be more than an arrogant braggart if you do not resign yourself to the Will of God. They may accuse you, they may take it upon themselves to destroy your reputation through slander and calumny, but that will never humble you if you do not interrupt the praises that you are also given -- if you do not flee from distinctions and honors. On the other hand, you may limit these praises that you may obey God who ordains that you will receive a share in His glory proportionate to your humility and chastity. Consequently, you shall have power in your undertakings: Holy power which is also an effect of resignation to the Will of God and the foundation of your days of joy.
